About

My name is Nick Browne

I am a freelance director, producer, and arts administrator with a passion for new work development and elevating underserved voices in American theater. I seek to create transformative theatrical events that challenge, inspire, subvert cultural expectations, and offer healing through radical togetherness and simple theatrical magic.

I believe in the transformative power of theater that occurs when two or more people gather together to share hyper specific stories that investigate our human condition.  As artists, it is our responsibility to use our craft to cultivate a deeper understanding of our shared humanity, transform what is possible for society, and heal the fractures of the self and society.

Nick's directing work is known for its dynamic use of movement and ensemble-based storytelling, often merging realism with heightened theatrical forms such as puppetry, ensemble work, dance, live music, and mask work.

Their projects have received funding from NYSCA (New York State Council on the Arts), and he was selected as a participant in the Creatives Build New York: Income for Artists Program, which supports artists in creating sustainable careers.

With an MFA from Brooklyn College and 10 years of professional experience in NYC, Nick has cultivated a broad skill set as both a director and producer. His focus on movement-driven, ensemble-based theater continues to push the boundaries of what theater can be, with a dedication to artistic excellence, fostering innovation, and representing underrepresented voices in the field.
